To current players and team reps:

It is possible to schedule ice-time in Gilbert 1-2 times per month from June through August 2009 if there is sufficient interest! I have been in contact with representatives at Polar Ice in Gilbert, AZ regarding the possibility of renting their ice on Sunday mornings during one of two sessions. There are two choices: either 9 to 11 AM, or 10:45 AM to 12:45 PM. The proposed dates are as follows: June 14 and June 28; July 12 and July 26; and August 9 and 23. Polar Ice Gilbert has offered us a significant discount on the cost of their ice-time, if we can commit to a twice monthly contract. The basic rate is $375 per hour. The discounted rate is about $311 per hour. Doing the math, if we had 24 skaters per session plus four goalies...and we booked 1.5 hour sessions, the cost would be about $17.00 if the goalies paid, too.
 
So, in order to go forward with this proposal, I need to know how many players are really interested in playing this summer. It is about 115 miles from the east side of Tucson to the Gilbert rink. It is a pretty straight shot up I-10 to the 202 east. The Chandler rink is about 10 miles closer, but the ice availability is NOT as good as Polar Ice in Gilbert. We can arrange some car pools and caravan up there. What I need to know now is how many players are willing to commit to this proposal, and whether thay want to play once per month or twice per month. I also need to know what time the majority would prefer to play...the early session or the later session? We would use the PAY-PAL system that Raytheon and the TAHL already have in place to collect the fees for the ice-time.
 
I need to have responses back from all interested players no later than 6 PM on Sunday May 3, 2009. Please send them to us at league@tahl.org. Please provide your name, USA Hockey membership #, and indicate your preference for one or two sessions per month...and whether you prefer the early or late session. If we only do one session per month, I would push for a two-hour session rather than 90 minutes. Thanks for your time. If we have enough interest, I will continue the process of setting-up the contract with Polar Ice. If we do NOT have sufficient participation, I will see if any one wants to join me playing in the pick-up sessions offered by Polar Ice Gilbert. Otherwise, I'll see you all in September 2009 at the TCC.
